Intro Crits: Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 6, 2026
Please read these terms carefully before booking your Intro Crit. By completing your purchase, you agree to the following.

1. Service Scope

An Intro Crit is a single, 45-minute 1:1 session with a professional artist mentor. The session is designed to provide an honest, focused read of your current work: identifying where you are, where you may be stuck, and what next steps could look like.

Prior to your session, your assigned mentor will review your submitted materials asynchronously. Your 45 minutes together are reserved for feedback, dialogue, and direction, not orientation.

Intro Crits do not include ongoing mentorship, follow-up sessions, or written reports unless otherwise specified by NewCrits.

2. Payment

The session fee is $89 USD, due in full at the time of booking.

All payments are processed securely through our booking platform. By completing payment, you confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method provided.

3. Refund Policy

All sales are final. The $89 session fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, including but not limited to: change of plans, personal scheduling conflicts, or dissatisfaction with mentor match.

NewCrits reserves the right to issue refunds at its sole discretion in the case of documented platform error or failure on NewCrits' side.

4. Scheduling, Cancellation & No-Shows

After purchase, you will receive a booking link to schedule your session. You are responsible for selecting a time and completing the booking within a reasonable window following purchase.

 Cancellations and No-Shows:

  • If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, your session fee is forfeited and no reschedule will be offered.
  • If you fail to appear for your scheduled session without notice, your session fee is forfeited and no reschedule will be offered.
  • If you need to reschedule with more than 48 hours' notice, please contact us at info@newcrits.studio. One reschedule may be accommodated at NewCrits' discretion.

NewCrits Cancellations: In the rare event that NewCrits or a mentor must cancel a session, you will be offered a full reschedule or a refund.

5. Session Recording

Sessions are conducted using the mentor’s own video platform (Zoom or Google Meet). Recording is at the artist’s discretion; NewCrits does not initiate or require recording of any session.

If a session is recorded, the recording belongs to the artist. NewCrits and its mentors will not access, retain, or distribute session recordings. The only exception is if a recording is shared voluntarily by the artist with NewCrits for internal review purposes (e.g., mentor quality review or HR processes), in which case it will be kept confidential and not shared further.

6. Intake Materials

To ensure your mentor can prepare in advance, you are required to submit your intake materials no later than 24 hours before your scheduled session. Intake materials include:

  • A completed intake form
  • 6–12 images of current work (or a short PDF)

If materials are submitted late or not at all, your mentor will work with whatever is available at session time. The session duration will not be extended to compensate for missing materials.

7. Mentor Match

NewCrits will assign a mentor based on your medium, practice, and goals as reflected in your intake form. While we make every effort to match you thoughtfully, mentor availability may limit options in some cases.

If you have a strong preference for a specific mentor, you may note this during booking. Requests are accommodated based on availability and are not guaranteed.

8. Technical Requirements

Sessions are conducted online. You are responsible for:

  • A stable internet connection
  • A working camera and microphone
  • A quiet, private environment for the session

If technical issues on your end prevent the session from proceeding, NewCrits is not responsible for session time lost. If technical failure occurs on the mentor's side, NewCrits will work to reschedule or offer a remedy.

9. Intellectual Property

All work you share during your Intro Crit session remains your intellectual property. NewCrits and its mentors will not reproduce, share, or use your work for any purpose without your explicit written consent.

Feedback, notes, and references provided by your mentor during the session are for your personal use only and may not be redistributed or published without permission.

10. Conduct & Community Standards

NewCrits is committed to maintaining a professional, respectful, and supportive environment. By booking a session, you agree to:

  • Engage with your mentor professionally and respectfully
  • Refrain from discriminatory, harassing, or abusive behavior of any kind
  • Honor the confidentiality of your mentor's feedback and any platform-specific communication

NewCrits reserves the right to terminate a session and forfeit the session fee if a participant engages in conduct that violates these standards.

11. Limitation of Liability

NewCrits provides critique and mentorship as an educational service. We do not guarantee specific outcomes, career results, or changes to your artistic practice as a result of participating in an Intro Crit session.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NewCrits' total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of our services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the session in question.

12. Updates to These Terms

NewCrits reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on our website and will apply to sessions booked after the effective date of the update.

Continued use of NewCrits services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
